As part of the @UN General Assembly Sixth Committee #InternationalLawWeek, SierraLeone@UN organized a talk on “Crimes Against Humanity” expertly delivered by Professor Dr. Charles Chernor Jalloh.
Professor Jalloh gave his thoughts on ‘Crimes Against Humanity’ draft articles adopted by the International Law Commission to a dynamic gathering of Representatives, Legal Advisers, Elections Officers and Delegates of the Sixth Committee of the UN.
Prof. Patricia V. Sellers, an international criminal lawyer, a Visiting Fellow at the University of Oxford, and Special Advisor on Slavery Crimes to the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court also delivered a talk on the slavery and slave trade amendment proposals being led by Sierra Leone.
The event also provided the opportunity for the Mission to inform of the nomination by the National Group of Prof. Jalloh as the Republic of Sierra Leone’s candidate for the position of Judge at the International Court of Justice (2027-2036 term).
Dr. Jalloh is a Professor of International Law, Richard A. Hausler Chair in Law, University of Miami Law School, Member of the International Law Commission, and Special Rapporteur of the topic: ‘Subsidiary means for the determination of rules of international law’.
