Dr. Michael Imran Kanu, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sierra Leone to the United Nations, presided over the fifth meeting of the International Criminal Court Assembly of States Parties (ICC-ASP) New York Working Group at the United Nations headquarters in New York.
As Vice President of the ICC-ASP and Coordinator of the New York Working Group, Dr. Kanu led discussions on the activities of the Court.
Judge Tumoko Akane, President of the International Criminal Court (ICC), and Judge Rosario Aitala, First Vice President of the Court, provided updates on the Court’s significant activities.
There was also update from the President of the Assembly, Ms. Paivi Kaukoranta, and updates on the Review Mechanism, appointment on Assembly mandate-holders, and status of contributions.
This meeting will be followed by an event to commemorate the Day of International Criminal Justice on 17th July 2024 on the topic: “Truth Memory and Justice: Engaging victims of mass atrocities in international criminal justice” at the UNHQ.
