At the #UNSC vote on the mandate of the monitoring team supporting the Afghanistan Sanctions Committee, the Security Council voted unanimously to adopt resolution 2763 renewing the mandate until February 2026.

Council also unanimously adopted resolution 2762 on the 2713 Al-Shabaab sanctions regime. Among other things, this resolution renews the mandate of the Panel of Experts assisting the 2713 Al-Shabaab Sanctions Committee until 31 March 2025.

Following briefings from
H.E Mr. Abdou Abary, Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Central Africa and Head of the United Nations Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA); H.E. Pedro Comissário, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Mozambique delivered a statement on behalf of the A3 Plus (Sierra Leone 🇸🇱, Mozambique 🇲🇿, Algeria 🇩🇿 and Guyana 🇬🇾).

In a wide ranging statement on the situation in the Central African region, Ambassador Comissário expressed the A3 Plus appreciation of the adoption of the Presidential Statement (PRST) on UNOCA in November 2023
“as a significant milestone, as the last PRST in the context of mandate renewal dates back 2018. We commend the Council’s renewed attention to this critical regional mechanism, which plays an essential role in promoting peace, security and development across Central Africa.”

A3 Plus called “for the provision of adequate financial resources to enable the Office to effectively carry out its critical work in addressing cross- border challenges and advancing stability and development in the region.”
