Sierra Leone has served as co-chair of the IEG alongside Switzerland in 2024. Today’s IEG WPS meeting focused on Ukraine and was the first time the IEG-WPS met to discuss the Women, Peace, and Security situation in Ukraine.
Briefings were provided by the Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator in Ukraine, Mr. Matthias Schmale, accompanied by members of the UN Country Team in Ukraine, as well as from the UN Women HQ and the Office of the SRSG on Sexual Violence in Conflict.
Sierra Leone will continue as co-chairs of the IEG alongside Denmark in 2025.
